Members
Carmina Aglubat
President, Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN)
University of Nevada, Reno
Carmina Aglubat is a proud Northern Nevadan and a political science major with a minor in communications at the University of Nevada. Before serving as the Student Body President of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN), she laid the foundation for her leadership as a Liberal Arts Senator, where she championed advocacy and the amplification of student voices.
Alongside Vice President Ethan McNamara, Carmina ran on the platform Home Means Nevada—a commitment to creating a campus where every student feels a sense of belonging, empowerment and embrace. Her passions in student government focus on uplifting student-led organizations, enriching the student experience through impactful programming and fostering spaces where all voices are empowered.
Beyond ASUN, Carmina remains active in the campus community as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and several on-campus political organizations. In the summer of 2025, she interned for District Court Judge Cynthia Lu, gaining insight into Nevada’s judicial system. Outside of academics and public service, Carmina enjoys discovering new coffee shops, exploring the vibrant Reno community and catching up with friends over brunch.
Jennifer Rodriguez Serrano
President, Student Government Association (SGA)
Great Basin College
Jennifer is a first-generation student who was born and raised in Winnemucca, Nevada. She is currently a pre-nursing major at Great Basin College. While she just started her presidency for the Great Basin Student Government Association (SGA), she has been a part of SGA since the fall of 2023 serving as a senator representative of the Winnemucca Campus. Thankfully, in that time, she has had the pleasure to attend and be a part of many opportunities to grow as a leader, including the fall conference for the American Student Government Association and the National Education in Women’s Leadership Conference. These experiences have opened her mind to all sorts of new concepts and ideas that she always tries to bring back to her campus. For this coming year, she hopes to continue nurturing new ideas from her constituents and a sense of camaraderie throughout all the campuses.
Besides her work with SGA and school, she also juggles two jobs. She works as the front desk receptionist at the GBC Winnemucca center serving as a greeter, aid to visitors, and so much more. Along with this, she works as an EMT with the local ambulance responding to 911 calls, engaging in community outreach programs, and when needed transporting critically ill or injured patients to trauma centers or higher levels of care. In her spare time as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), she makes sure to assist with car seat safety checks around her local area. As you can imagine, with all this it does not leave much time for fun. However, when the time opens, she loves spending my time reading and being outdoors!
Tania Akter
President, Graduate Student Association (GSA)
University of Nevada Reno
Tania Akter is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is also the current GSA president at UNR. Her current research mainly focuses on catalysis and renewable energy-related works. Working in a lab is an enjoyable part of her work; she always likes to incorporate new techniques or approaches in her research projects.
Apart from research work, she enjoys cooking, social gatherings, and traveling. Learning about other cultures and activities always motivates her to collaborate with people. She also likes to involve herself in different organizations and has served in GSA for the last four years as a council representative from the College of Science.
Her future goal is to apply the knowledge and skills she has gained in leadership and research to bring about positive change in academia or industry for the betterment of society and the world.
